Calpe Holidays

All inclusive holidays in Calpe

The ancient fishing port of Calpe, in the Alicante region, is a magnet for British tourists seeking cheap all inclusive holidays on the Costa Blanca. The modern hotels face onto some of the finest beaches on the Costa Blanca, while the unspoiled old town is steeped in history. Predominantly geared towards low-cost family holidays, last minute breaks in Calpe offer everything you could want in the way of sand, sea and sun.

Where to take family breaks in Calpe

Along the coast, the resort is predominantly high rise, offering all inclusive holidays on a large scale to both Spanish and British holidaymakers. From the hotels and apartments it’s a short walk to the beach and town centre, which offers a startling contrast with winding, mediaeval streets, craft fairs and flea markets.
Away from the coast you will find rustic fincas – 18th century plantation houses serving traditional Spanish hospitality. If you enjoy farmhouse family breaks, you will love it here. The town behind Playa Levante also has modern low rise hotels, suitable for families and couples seeking last minute breaks away from the high-rise blocks.

Things to do on holidays in Calpe

The resort’s main draw is its fantastic golden Blue Flag beaches. Playa Cantal Roig is a small, rocky beach adjoining a chic marina. Follow the promenade past the Roman fish farm and baths – both worth exploring – and you will find the superb Blue flag beach of Playa Arenal-Bol. Behind is the old mediaeval town to explore.
The Playa la Fossa (also called Playa Levante) is perfect for children. It boasts golden sand, play areas, tennis and bowling, and is lined with bars and restaurants, many of them catering for the Spanish who take their family holidays here.

Peñon de Ifach

This massive rock dominates the resort, dwarfing the apartment blocks and separating the two main beaches. Designated a national park, it is 332 metres high and extends one kilometre out to sea. There is a tourist information office at the bottom, and the climb to the top is rewarded with some of the best views on the Costa Blanca.
Not surprisingly, the rock is a magnet for rare nesting birds and climbing enthusiasts – though it’s best to book your family breaks outside the heat of the summer if you intend to do a lot of the latter. The Roman salt flats, a short way inland, are another popular hiking and bird watching spot.

We at Co-operative Personal Travel Advisors recommend the resort of Calpe for its unique mix of ancient and modern, and spectacular scenery and beaches. Lively and picturesque, it’s the perfect spot for family holidays and last minute breaks for all.
