Kuala Lumpur Holidays

Kuala Lumpur for luxury holidays

Kuala Lumpur, a haven for luxury holidays, is also known with affection as ‘KL’.  Kuala Lumpur has rapidly become one of the fastest developing countries in Asia.  There is a blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures as well as hints of Islam and a sprinkling of Eurasians and Europeans making this a vibrant mix of styles, languages and architecture.
Kuala Lumpar is extremely cosmopolitan and is made up of a warren of markets and streets.  If you need to get your bearings use the KL Tower positioned in the city centre on Bukit Nanas.  It stands at 421m high and has Islamic design features.  The people of Kuala Lumpar gather to meet in the Lake Gardens which is a park located southwest of the centre of the city.

Things to do on a Kuala Lumpur holiday

On your quality holiday in Kuala Lumpur, you can enjoy wandering through the grounds or take a boat out on the lake.  Dominating the park is the National Monument (Tugu Negara), which was erected as a memorial to those who fought against the communist partisans in the 40s and 50s.  You’ll find the Parliament House to one side and on the other the National Museum.  The museum details the whole spectrum of Malaysian culture from the remote jungle villages to the decadence of the courts of the sultan.
The National Mosque is a celebrated piece of architecture that was finished in 1965.  It is the largest mosque in the whole of the area and visitors are allowed in to marvel at the stunning marble interior and the galleries and pools as long as they take their shoes off.

Culture and history on Kuala Lumpur holidays

Another great sight to see on luxury holidays to Kuala Lumpur is the Jame Mosque with its arches and domes in pink and white; a sight best enjoyed against the twilight sky.  It was built in Moghul design in the 1900’s and stands where the Gombak and Kelang rivers meet.
Kuala Lumpar’s Merdeka Square is across the river and in the British Empire era this was were cricket would be played.  These days, parades to celebrate National Day take place here.  A 34-storey skyscraper dominates the area in a striking mix of modern and Islamic styles.  Another architectural wonder can be found further south called Hishamuddin in Jalan Sudan.  It is half mosque and half palace and close by you can see the fantastic railways station a work of art in itself.
