Mexico Holidays

Mexico offers families and couples seeking all inclusive holidays a beautiful getaway to a tropical climate and stunning resorts set in the plateau and high mountainous landscapes.

Mexico is a country of celebration and culture

This is the country of celebrations and festivals and with more than 120 festivals celebrated every year you’re sure to get the chance to see one of these vibrant and colourful spectacles.  These events can be religious, national or local but in all cases they are a great excuse for processions, music and dancing and spectacular fireworks displays.  Major events include the Day of the Dead on 1st November which is celebrated nationally, Holy Week which occurs the week before Easter and Carnaval which takes place the week before Lent.

There is plenty of history and architecture to show the children with temple complexes to visit and Mayan ruins dotted along this region.  Chichén Itzá is worth a visit with its chacmool figures, stunning snail shaped observatory and towering temple.  You can inspire your inner Indiana Jones by scrambling over ancient ruins and taking a peek into the surrounding jungle.

Cancún for Family Entertainment

For family holidays, Cancún is one of the most popular resorts and is a city dedicated to providing great entertainment and bundles of fun.  It has huge hotels, great water parks, excellent shopping malls and mega-clubs.  For beach lovers and children there is a long stretching beach.

If this is all too hectic and you prefer something more relaxing the city is surrounded by the Riviera Maya which offers alternative resorts such as the islands of Cozumel and Mujeres.  There is also the stylish Playa del Carmen and the chilled out Tulum which are encircled by dreamy coral reefs and enchanting clear blue seas.  Nearby you can also find the eeriness of the ancient ruined Maya cities and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

Other sights and sounds of Mexico

The deserts and mountains of the North West are fantastic for older children.  Acapulco offers great entertainment and Oaxaca offers great shopping opportunities for handicraft.  Guadalarjara is another great place to visit and home to mariachi, Mexican cowboys and the national beverage tequila.

You can be as adventurous or as relaxed as you like in this spectacular country and for last minute breaks there is a huge number of resorts available from the city of Cancun to Puerto Vallarta.  For details on some great deals for family holidays or last minute breaks, contact us at Co-operative Personal Travel Advisors where we can help you find the holidays right for you.
